ICT: Enemies or Friends

   

        

    Information Communication Technology also known as ICT is refer to all communication technologies such as cellphones, internet, computers, social networking and other media applications and services. In the present day ICT is extensively used and it affects our everyday lives. These new technologies has been accessible by the people in their everyday life and increase their living standards. Nowadays many ICT gadgets are used in our life and they facilitate with mobility thus use anytime anywhere. These gadgets reduce physical and mental workload, by that principles modern day gadgets are truly helps mankind in their daily lives. ICT has contributed a lot to change our everyday life such as letter to email market shopping to online shopping classroom learning to online learning etc. One aspect of technology that has had a great impact on society is how it affects learning, how it affects education. There are some people who believed that the modern technology has upgraded the system of education in the world which is true extent, but there are some people who believed that this advancement of technology has a bad effect on education.

    By integrating ICT into the classroom, the students have the ability to learn more effectively, collaborative with each other and explore the new things around them. When technology is integrated in the lessons, students are expected to be more interested in every subject that they are studying. It provides different opportunities to make learning more fun and enjoyable in terms of teaching in new ways. By using ICT in the classroom, both students and teachers can be benefit as will they develop the skills that is essential for the 21st century, for the new modern world. Students can gain skills they will need to be successful in the future. Teachers can use different app trusted online resources to enhance the traditional ways of teaching and to keep students more engaged. ICT can also help develop many practical skills including creating presentations. On the other hand there are certainly some negative effects of ICT. When it comes to being sociable and making some face to face contact, technology can decrease communication and relations between people, people need some form of social interaction in their daily lives and if they do not get the chance to meet and talk with other people they may feel isolated and unhappy. In terms of having a negative effect on education is that it can be overused, students are become highly dependent on the devices to complete their works rather than depending in their own knowledge and this is obviously a negative signal towards the growth of education in the modern world. Being highly dependent on technology isn’t good for us as it will teach us to become more irresponsible and lazy. In addition reduced of physical activity is another negative effect of ICT the users may adopt a more sedentary lifestyle. This can lead to health problems such as obesity diabetes etc.

    Everything in life is like the two side of a coin, there is always a positive and negative side in every phenomenon. But whether the effect is positive or negative the effects of information communication technology (ICT) is far reaching and cannot be emphasized . The effect of ICT  looks at how our lives have been changed for better and worse, by the impact of ICT. The problem is not the technology; the problem is how people use the technology. Life become easy and comfortable because of this technology but  still there are things that we must be aware of .We must be responsible in using it. ICT can be our friend but somehow when we use it in a wrong way it can be our enemies that’s why  we must be responsible  of using technology because despite of the good benefits given to us by technology there are still things that we must be aware of.
